About
A miniature mixed-heritage chicken carrying the blue-egg gene, with curly frizzled feathers that curl outward instead of lying flat.
Easter Eggers are not a true breed but a mixed-heritage bird carrying the blue-egg gene from Araucana or Ameraucana ancestry. The "frizzle" is a feather mutation where each feather curls outward along the shaft. Bantam versions are roughly one-quarter the size of standard birds and became popular in small backyard flocks in the late 20th century.
Care Considerations
Frizzled feathers provide less insulation than flat feathers — watch for chilling in cold or wet weather and provide windbreaks. Feathers break more easily in overcrowded runs; give extra space. Feed standard layer pellets at first egg; bantams eat significantly less than large fowl.

Frizz laid a gorgeous pale blue egg — first one from her!

She is so tiny but fearless. Chased Butterscotch away from the best perch today.

Frizz loves to sit on my shoulder. Flies up whenever I crouch down near her.
